Our History

Apr. 1973	Founder established the corporation.
Aug. 1974	Establishment of corporation in Midori-ku, Yokohama.
Nov. 1975	Commenced manufacturing diamond tools at the Kurokawa-mura plant in Niigata.
Jun. 1979	Established a NIS READ.
Dec. 1981	Established a new plant at the present location in Niigata.
May 1985	Developed an ultra-thin dicing blade (trade name: RUT(TM)).
Oct. 1986	Released high-performance ceramic bond grind stone (trade name: CR wheel(TM)).
Mar. 1988	Established Sendai Service Office.
Dec. 1990	Venture Enterprise Center granted debt guarantee for “development of the high-performance micro abrasive grain grind stone 1990”.
Sep. 1991	Established Nagoya Service Office.
Dec. 1993	Released a high-cutting and high-precision blade with a new structure (trade name: LAM(TM)).
Feb. 1994	Yokohama City awards a small and medium-sized enterprise research and development grant for “development of a new type diamond CBN sintered body”.
May 1994	Released an abrasion-resistant high-precision blade (trade name: ELF(TM)).
Jan. 1995	Established Hong Kong Branch.
Feb. 1995	Released ultra-precise integrated forming multi (trade name: SHP multi (TM)).
Sep. 1995	Bought out affiliate subsidiary, ‘NIS READ Co., Ltd.’ thereby increasing production equipment output of Sendai Plant by threefold.
Dec. 1995	Moved Headquarters to Shin-Yokohama, Kohoku-ku, Yokohama.
Sep. 1997	Published a light accumulation material ‘R-Bright’ in newspapers, which was developed through a university-business alliance.
Oct. 1997	Awarded the Takagi Prize for “A study on ultra-precision mirror grinding using ultra-particulate diamond wheel” by the Precise Measurement Technique Promoting Foundation.
Feb. 1999	Niigata Plant and Development Laboratory obtained ISO9001 certification.
Dec. 1999	Established Manila Representative Office.
Mar. 2000	Released an ultra-rigid blade (trade name: DCC(TM)).
Jun. 2000	Released a semiconductor device CMP (chemical mechanical polishing) dresser having longer operating life and corrosion resistance (trade name: CSD(TM)).
Jul. 2001	Released various ceramic and metal porous bodies (trade name: porous body(TM)).
Sep. 2001	Niigata Plant, Sendai Plant and Development Laboratories obtained ISO14001 certification.
Feb. 2004	Sendai Plant obtained ISO9001 certification.
Apr. 2004	Released a new method CMP dresser (trade name: REV(TM)).
Sep. 2004	Released a high-quality bond grind stone (trade name: HAL(TM)).
Aug. 2005	Commenced commercial production of diamond fixed abrasive grain wire (trade name: ROW(TM)).
Sep. 2006	Established Bangkok Representative Office.
Dec. 2006	Received a courtesy call from Kanagawa prefecture as READ establishes excellent corporate revenue for the forth consecutive year in the 20 years history of the product.

Dec. 2007	Released a cutting grind stone for difficult-to-machine layered materials (trade name: TMC(TM)).

Jun. 2008	Selected as one of “Japan’s 300 energetic manufacturing companied” by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Nov. 2011	Completion of the new building at Sendai Factory (current Building A).

Oct. 2014	Established R2 Plant in Shinchi, Fukushima

Sep. 2016	R2 Plant and R3 Plant obtained ISO9001/14001 certification.
Sep. 2020	Closed R2 plant, integrated operations to R3 plant and changed the name to Fukushima plant.
Jun. 2022	Commencement of reconstruction work at Sendai Factory.
