Notice of New Building Construction Plan for Sendai Plant
READ Corporation will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2023.
To mark this occasion, we will construct a new building on the premises of our Sendai Plant in Watari-cho, Miyagi Prefecture.
The current Sendai Plant is 40 years old, and although it survived the Great East Japan Earthquake, there are concerns about the deterioration of the building. In order to continue to supply high value-added products, it is necessary to rebuild it with a design that is earthquake- and flood-resistant. At the new Sendai Plant, we aim to create a disaster-resistant plant, as well as to achieve advanced manufacturing through the use of IoT for all facilities, automation of core production lines, and renewal of plant management through DX. Furthermore, we will revitalize the employee engagement movement and promote the creation of a workplace where dialogue is deepened both inside and outside the company.
On the other hand, in response to the recent tight supply of industrial products worldwide, we will review our BCP (Business Continuity Plan) at all three bases. At the present stage, we are planning to build a BCP line network by installing the same quality production facilities as those of the Sendai Plant at the Fukushima and Niigata Plants.
The completion date is scheduled for April 2023. In case of disaster, we will be able to open the building as an emergency evacuation site for our neighbors.
